Our pick of 5 Hong Kong sporting events to play or watch!

1. Hong Kong Tag Super League Round 1

Date: July 13 (Sat)

Time: 7.30pm-9.00pm

Admission: FREE to spectate

Good news - Hong Kong competitive tag rugby makes its return this Saturday at King's Park!

A variant of touch rugby where removing tags on either side of a player's shorts counts as a tackle, the game favours speed and agility over strength, allowing for guys and girls to compete side-by-side.

Come along and see what it's all about!

2. Castle Peak Road at Nightfall

Date: July 13 (Sat)

Time: 2.45pm-7.00pm

Venue: McDonald's, Peking Road (meetup point)

Admission: FREE

Soak in the sunset, burn some calories and challenge yourself with a 30km run from Tsim Sha Tsui, going, past Castle Peak Road and finishing at Tuen Mun Siu Lun Sports Ground.

You won't be alone in this endeavour, with a group of local runners 屎溝油蛻變市郊遊, a play on words meaning 'excrement mixing with oil transforming into a city tour (it only comes across in Cantonese) leading the way and helping you along.

An easier alternative is available by joining Eastern Jogger on a similar route but with half the distance, starting at Tsuen Wan West MTR Exit D instead.

3. Inner Yoga with Stella (Free Outdoor Class)

Date: July 14 (Sun)

Time: 9.00am-10.00am

Admission: FREE

Hong Kong-based yoga guru Marcel Yoga is hosting his latest free community yoga class (he does plenty of these...) at Tamar Park!

Build a strong foundation through standing postures, backbending, create mobility in the hips, knees, ankles, and improve endurance through forward bending.

Bring a yoga mat, water and a smile and keep an eye out for future events like this - perfect for anyone interested to try out yoga but not fork out a fortune just yet.

4. ACRO Intensive with Jessalyn and Glen

Date: July 13 (Sat)

Time: 3.00pm-4.30pm/4.45pm-6.15pm

Admission: $500 per session, $950 package for both (Purchase HERE)

Ever wanted to give acrobatics a go?

LA-based fitness duo Jessalyn and Glen are in Hong Kong for a limited time to teach you how to pull off dramatic, gravity-defying Cirque du Soleil-style acrobatics!

5. Casual Football Network

Date: July 13 (Sat)/July 14 (Sun)

Time: 6.15pm onwards

Admission: $60 (+$20 if you only bring one shirt) - Register HERE

Join the most popular, no frills football group in Hong Kong.

If the idea of casual, friendly 'pick-up' matches throughout the week appeal to you, stop asking around for help in Hong Kong Expat and join Casual Football Network (you can also check out our article here).
