Hong Kong-based Liverpool fans will get the chance to see their heroes in the flesh, as former Reds are set to take to the Hong Kong Stadium in a one-off match against their Borussia Dortmund counterparts on 8 June.

Players confirmed for the German club include the likes of goalkeeper Roman Wiedenfeller, Jan Koller, Dede, Julio Cesar and Karl-Heinz Riedle.

On the other hand, the Reds have enlisted current Sky Sports panellist Jamie Carragher, Steve McManaman, Djibril Cisse and former Spain international Luis Garcia, who made an appearance at a press conference at Kerry Hotel alongside Riedle this morning.

“It’s always a pleasure to be on the field and I always enjoy these kind of Legend games. We played against them (Dortmund) back in August – it was quite an exciting game,” said Garcia, who scored in a 3-2 defeat at Signal Iduna Park.

“We know the passion of the Chinese supporters and we enjoy coming here. They’ll be very noisy in the stadium, so we want them to join us and I’m sure they’ll enjoy a fantastic match.”

“There are some really nice spots here in Hong Kong,” added Riedle.

“It’s an iconic city and my first time being here, so hopefully we will come much more often to Hong Kong and play here.”

Fowler (not present), who will be captaining a Liverpool side stocked with winners from their famous 2005 Champions League triumph in Istanbul, stressed the importance of connecting with Liverpool fans from across the world.

“We hope to create another fun, entertaining yet competitive game for our fans in Hong Kong and Asia.”

“As a club with fans based all around the world, it’s incredibly important that we take the opporutuniy to visit our supporters who may not get the chance to experience Anfield for themselves – so we’re bringing LFC to them.”

The match kicks off at 4pm, with ticket prices starting from $260.

General sale starts on 23 April at 10am local time, with pre-sales available for LFC Members, season ticket holders and Official Liverpool Supporters Clubs.
