Our pick of 5 Hong Kong sporting events to play or watch!

1. Inclusive Rugby

Date: Jan 6 (Sun)

Venue: Chinese International School

1 Hau Yuen Path

Admission: Whatsapp 69028280

In keeping with our coverage of the Prudential NYD Youth Rugby Tournament earlier this week, here's a little something to help channel your kids' boundless energy towards.

RISE WISE, who specialise in harnessing sport to help children develop social skills, intelligence and behavioural attributes, are putting on an "Inclusive Rugby" session in Sunday, opening doors to kids of all ages and abilities.

If your sprog doesn't feel any love towards rugby, not to fret- there are other sports to choose from such as squash, football and even Brazilian Jiu-jitsu!

2. The 5th Hong Kong City Cup International Boxing Tournament

Date: Jan 6th-9th (Sun-Wed)

Time: 2.00pm-6.00pm

Venue: Southorn Stadium

111 Johnston Road, Wanchai

Admission: FREE

If your Boxing Day and Christmas festivities felt a little underwhelming, here's a rather different kind of boxing day(s) for you and anyone you know with an appreciation for arts of the martial sort.

Hong Kong's own Southorn Stadium will be the stage on which the best local and regional sluggers coming from a land down under, Singapore, neighbouring Macau and the Mainland, well... slug it out for the crown and all the glory.

Be sure to start the new year off right... hook, left jab, uppercut! *insert fist bump emoji*

3. Bike Hash #2

Date: Jan 5th (Sat)

Time: 3.00pm-7.00pm

Venue: Smart Bike, Unison Industrial Centre

Fo Tan, New Territories

(Fo Tan MTR Exit B and follow chalk)

Admission: $60 for bike rental and helmet, $100 for Chinese meal

Cycling is infinitely more fun in a large group.

Which is what you get if you join in the South Lantau Hash House Harriers' 2nd Bike Hash, which involves cruising together, grabbing a couple of drinks after covering a good distance, followed by dinner.

A fantastic way to meet new friends, see the sights and get in a decent workout- contact Ruthless Rides (probably called Ruth) at 6505 6606 or Strap on Sheila 9151 7558 (probably called Strap on). You can tell they're a funny bunch.

4. Aerial Dance for Beginners Workshop with Sally

Date: Jan 6th (Sun)

Time: 1.30pm-3.30pm

Venue: Lazy Cat Yoga School

7K, Valiant Commercial Center

2-12 Au Pui Wan Street, Fo Tan

Admission: Purchase HERE)

Take your flexibility to whole new heights. Yoga, but with a twist.

OK- we're done with the dubious aerial yoga puns, but your journey on the path of the discipline/art form is only just getting started if you sign up for Sally's yoga workshop, catering to aspiring yogis with no prior experience.

Be sure to check for availability beforehand by contacting Crystal at 64338126!

5. Hiking in Yuen Long

Date: 6 Jan (Sun)

Time: 1.00pm-6.00pm

Venue: Long Ping MTR Station, New Territories

Admission: Book HERE

A Sunday spent sightseeing, hiking and visiting Hong Kong's famous Sweet Gum Woods? Sounds pretty swell to me!

Aside from an active weekend and plenty of photo ops that would make everyone think you've gone abroad, you'll get the chance to meet plenty of new people (pretty useful if you're new to the city!).

Bring along some cash for the MTR and bus rides, as well as for the dinner afterwards to celebrate completing the hike- sensible footwear and water won't go amiss either!
