Match Report: HKCC Ladies B 3-0 LHT A

A 5 o’clock push back at Happy Valley found HKCC B ladies taking on LHT A, and they expected a tough game in the freezing weather.

From the first whistle, LHT were pressed back into their D with HKCC attacking from both sides, but LHT’s resolute defence held strong leaving us with little options and opportunities. With several rounds of attacks and positive passing hockey, our striker Holly finally found our first goal.

It took until the final minutes of the first half before we were awarded a short corner, despite the routine not going quite to plan, second goal followed by shortly with Skittle deflecting the ball into the back of the net.

Though we were two goals up in the first half, we were guilty on a number of occasions of losing possession in key areas, putting ourselves under pressure.

After a positive team-talk, HKCC started the second half on top. We played with maturity, patience and confidence, which was a delight to see pushing LHT back into a defensive mind set and formation.

Our midfield worked hard to lead and create opportunities for the defence to get higher up the pitch and it wasn’t long before we added a third to our tally - a quality through ball found Angel on the left post, who slotted another goal home.

The Ladies B took a lot of positives from the game and now look forward to finish off the season on a high note. Special mention must go to Zoe for helping us out. Heads up for next match against Recreio.
