A fresh start and a new style of hockey.
Following our last and only defeat this season, HKCC Bs were keen to restore their winnning streak with the help of Coach Ash who's pre game chat motivated the troops.
From the get go, the team adapted to the new style of play well, with many lateral transfers around the back between the unpenetrable defence of Karen, Caro, Dreamy and Sarah who fed long balls into the wings, Angel, Michelle and Skittle. With the majority of possession, surely a goal was bound to come.
Within the first 10 minutes, Michelle got one after a tight scramble in front of goal.
Though plenty of opportunities were created by tremendous leads from the mids, K Rose, Vivian and Gill we were still unable to convert.
Just before half time, Karen was subbed off by Coach on the request of her daughter who wanted to say good night to mummy dearest.
Second half, still 1-0 up but the three points were not secured. The ladies fought hard to solidify the victory with countless short corners and circle penetrations but Elite A's goalie proved too strong.
Powerful plays from Toni and Gill cut out any loose balls in the mid, driving the attacking play forward.
After winning consecutive short corners, a conversion finally came from Gill who lifted it over the goalie. 2-0 to HKCC Bs secured our victory.
The tremendous effort from the team was rewarded with beers at the jockey. However, the celebration did not end there. News of Recreio's loss has restored our top spot in the league!
