Match Report: HKCC B 0-1 Aquila A

Throughout this start of the season, it’s not often we come off the pitch on the losing side, but they were clearly fitter and the better team on the day.

Aquila A played a low press for the first half, so we couldn’t quite deliver the final pass or manage to maintain the pressure in the final third and consequently, we created few opportunities which nonetheless included a nice shot on target from Erol, but it was not enough to take the lead in those 35 minutes.

During the second half, we struggled to create opportunities and the fitness difference started to show up towards the end.

They are a younger side that like to hurry on the ball, but lacked real invention in attack. Our opponents did not have many shot opportunities in the D but managed obtain numerous short corners.

We can definitely thank our Belgian keeper Lorenz, who was backed by a strong defensive showing lead by Pete for in the end, they had to wait for a controversial last minute call by the ref to score on a shorty.

In conclusion, it is a disappointing and frustrating loss. Although we did not deserve the 3 points, we were certainly unlucky to lose one.

Now, let’s forget that loss and focus on the next game against Football Club C. We are third of our division and intend to stay on top!!!
