It's official: Kitchee have done it again by acquiring Mohamed Sissoko from Mexican side Atlético San Luis.

While the signing of Uruguayan legend Diego Forlán made all the headlines last season, the Premier League champions have opted for a more defensive-minded star this time around.

A journeyman with a wealth of experience across major clubs across Europe, the Malian was part of Valencia's sensational La Liga-winning season in 2003, although he is perhaps better known for his stint at Liverpool during which he won an FA Cup.

Described as a tenacious yet intelligent midfielder and likened to Patrick Viera, the 33-year-old has spent time in Serie A at Juventus and Ligue One at Paris Saint-Germain, enjoying further spells at Florentina and Levante later in his career.

Sissoko has had prior experience playing in Hong Kong, having featured in the Barclays Asia Trophy 2007 during his Liverpool days.
