A devastating decision by Hong Kong Cricket Club

The Hong Kong Cricket Club (HKCC) have announced the dissolution of their rugby section, More Chaos can reveal.

Following extensive meetings with key stakeholders, the decision was made ostensibly in consideration of the “drive towards high performance rugby” in the local game and in order to fulfil the greater goal of “supporting the development of rugby” in Hong Kong.

Other secondary factors include the Club’s lack of on-site facilities, in addition to its fundamental structure as a not-for-profit organisation.

All is not lost, however; current HKCC players will instead join forces with HKU Sandy Bay RFC upon the formal conclusion of the 2017/18 season, with the merger set to transform Sandy Bay into one of the largest clubs in Hong Kong.

While only time will reveal the prudence of this decision, the move will certainly remain a talking point for supporters in the buildup to the next season.
