Match Report: HKCC Ladies A 2-0 KCC A

Post the highs and hilarity of the HKCC Christmas Party, the HKCC A team were determined to continue their winning streak from last weekends game. Coach Rob chose to keep the same successful structure from the previous week with Brige, Rach and Griz playing more attacking positions and Jenny A taking a new position as centre defence.

The ladies started off the match with some good passing, turning play over quickly after some KCC breakaways. The forwards continued to put pressure on the KCC back line but were unable to convert anything in the D to set themselves up for a goal opportunity, ending the first half at 0-0.

The second half began and the girls were eager to score their first goal, which came early on with a cracking PC strike from Brige.

Some slick 1-2s up the left-hand side, solid running from our midfields and strikers and the girls working the base-line, allowed the ladies to put into practice what they had worked hard at during training.

Some frustrating near misses eventually led to a solid strike from Rach, firmly smashing the ball past the KCC goalie to score the 2nd and final goal of the match.

With some great communication as always from Gill in goal, the defence kept their cool under some last minute pressure from KCC.

The HKCC A ladies ended the game with a clean sheet, with the game ending in a 2-0 win for the HKCC A team.

While the score line did not accurately reflect the level of possession and number of near-miss chances the ladies had, Coach Rob praised the team in the post-match talk on their grit, determination and commitment everyone had put into the game.

As the team go into the final game of this half of the season, the ladies need to continue their focus, drive and composure in what will be one of the toughest matches yet against HKFC A once again.
