After a tough game against Football Club B the week before, HKCC A trained hard for the game against Valley A on Saturday with training based on pressing the free hits and getting the ball out of a press.
HKCC absorbed a lot of pressure in the first half with Valley full pressing and stopping the balls out of the midfield.
A reverse stick hit from the top of the D meant that HKCC were 1-0 down but they continued to fight hard with some good passing in the defence and some solid hits up the line. The work in training paid off and HKCC were pressing Valley hard in their 16’ hits with Jenny Craig and Becky Kirkcaldie doing some great shuffling up front.
Unfortunately, a short corner hit meant that HKCC went 2-0 down in the second half and a penalty stroke near the end of the game resulted in a 3-0 finish.
Positives of the game were getting the ball out of the opposition’s press better than the week before and avoiding hitting straight down the middle of the pitch.
Hopefully HKCC A can work harder to get the win against Coyotez next week.
