Discovery Bay's infamous All-Girls Beach Festival, taking place from 28-29 January 2018 at Tai Pak Beach, is shaping to be yet another unmissable fixture on the rugby calendar once more with the firm backing of the Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU).

Reflecting the meteoric rise of the women's game in Hong Kong which was this year capped by a historic World Cup in Ireland, the Festival has itself expanded from predominantly a mini-rugby tournament to feature youths, women's and is set to host a touch tournament for the first time in 2018.

In addition, DB Pirates are working towards beating last year's record of 55 participating teams, while adding an international flavour to the mix by welcoming several overseas sides to Tai Pak Beach.

Sarah Duncan, Group MD for Black Dog Consultants, expressed her excitement at being able to sponsor the event.

"Given my family's strong connection to Pirates, we've been talking to Steve Tait (DB Pirates Chairman) about something we could get involved with and given I founded the women's section of the Pirates, this couldn't be something closer to my heart," said Duncan.

"With this beach tournament, Pirates has created an amazing opportunity for the spotlight to be on the girls' and women's game for a weekend and we're proud to be title sponsors this year!"

The tournament is supported by HKRU, Black Dog Consultants, T8 Consulting and DB Pirates.

Entry is free and is now open for mini, youth, women and touch teams- please contact beachfestival@dbpirates for more information.
