So Kon Po played host to a tantalising top-of-the-table Premiership clash between Valley Black Ladies and SCAA Causeway Bay Phoenix last Saturday, with the defending champions pitting their sensational unbeaten record on the line against a youthful Phoenix side.
A side that had put City Sparkle to the sword, vanquished HKFC Ice and perhaps now harboured dreams of becoming the chosen ones to pull a Goliath-slaying feat, to truly underline their title credentials.
If their heads were in the clouds, their feet were certainly planted firmly in the ground from the start as they stymied the visitors with a resilient team effort and the challenge of their task was eased by a relatively subpar first-half performance by Valley's high standards.

However, this was Valley after all and Bella Milo's charges accumulated a 24-0 scoreline by half-time without having to shift through the gears, courtesy of tries from Nadia Cuvelier, Aroaha Savage and Milo herself and compounded by solid conversions from Zoe Smith.
Phoenix attempted to launch several incursions of their own into Valley territory through the likes of Chan Yan Yi and Martini Ip, but were beaten back by Valley's trademark athleticism and physicality.
Milo then led by example by adding her second of the day on the back of an unstoppable run at the heart of the SCAA defence, which seemed to set the tone for a Valley onslaught.
A spluttering first-half showing was swept aside by waves of free-flowing Valley attacks, spearheaded at times by substitute Jessica Eden who wreaked havoc down the flanks, with her blistering pace playing a major role in Stephanie Cuvelier's try.
Riva Brill and Rebecca Thompson then comprehensively secured the points and put Valley well out of touching distance, with the icing on the cake provided by Milo and Eden ensuring Valley go home with a 57-0 victory.
The result sees Phoenix fall to fourth on 9 points, while Valley Black Ladies hold on to that familiar first-place with a one-point lead over rivals Gai Wu Falcons.
The next fixture at So Kon Po saw SCAA Causeway Bay Lammergeier in cruise control from start to finish against University RFC Ladies, eventually claiming a vital opening day triumph by racking up a 71-0 scoreline.
