Match Report: HKCC Ladies Prem A 1-1 Coyotez

The game plan was to go out from the start with a bang and the HKCC ladies attempted to do just that.

However, we just could not turn over the ball in the attacking half and although the first half saw many an opportunity from our side, our shots ended up either side of the goal posts.

Coyotez were very solid in their defence and most of the balls played through were easily dealt with. Gill once again had a great game in the goals and made a few saves, some at full stretch as they deflected off her stick.

As the first half ended, it was a frustrating 0-0 on the scoreboard.

A different approach was taken at the start of the second half which saw a slight change of position to ensure possession of the ball upfront. This tactic unfortunately did not work out for us and we settled back into our normal formation.

There were some positive runs from our outside players in Kathryn Ward and Stacey Rohwer with a few promising crosses into the D, but we just couldn't find our corresponding players to finish the move.

Late in the second half, a Coyotez player went down as she was hit and as play continued, Coyotez took advantage of HKCC ladies stop in play by snatching a goal.

This sparked an energy burst and extreme determination from the HKCC ladies, as we strung together a few more passes and the midfielders started to interplay a little more.

Our continued pressure resulted in a short corner and even though there was a misstrap, Jenny Alexander managed to feed the ball back in to Aisley Keane, who showed great composure as she slotted it in the back of the net to equalise.

With only about 6 minutes to go, we gave it our best shot but also had to absorb a lot of pressure and the score remained at 1-1 until the final whistle.
