Match Report: HKCC Ladies B 1-0 HKFC Ladies E

New season, new division, new team, new pitch, not to mention facing our nemesis in the first match - the B Team had a lot to think about on Saturday.

Feeling highly motivated after our pre-match chat from Chris and Ash, we started strong and executed some great passes as we moved up the pitch toward the FC goal.

We took our free hits early, which helped create many attacking chances and led to a goal in the 2nd quarter by Angel Chow on her debut outing for HKCC.

It was hot out there and our start of season fitness levels started to impact our play as our passes became less accurate. When we began hitting more, we had some missed opportunities to drive the ball into their circle.

Fortunately, we had ample reinforcements on the bench and with some clever subbing, we maintained our lead into half-time.

We set out in half time with two clear goals: create more chances in attack by using Dreamy’s slapstick & help defensive hit outs by staying behind the ball.

Putting together a strong start, we made some great passes around the pitch creating some breaks for the forwards.

However the FC were more determined in the 2nd half and made some fast breaks which sometimes left us scrambling to get back. But scramble we did and all of our excellent defenders fought very hard for the majority of the 4th quarter.

Jasmine produced a string of quality saves to preserve the 1-0 scoreline and with some last minute moments of attacking play from Toni and Janet the whistle blew and we had won!

The way we fought for the three points is a big plus for us. This will give us good confidence going forward and hopefully we can continue to win (plus a game in hand with the FC already fulfils one of our start of season goals!).

Dreamy was the well deserved winner of the coaches' Whispering Angel Man Of The Match.
